Biography
Rotimi Amaechi was born on 27 May 1965 in Ubima, Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State. He holds a degree in English Literature from the University of Port Harcourt and a law degree from the Nigerian Law School, and studied at King's College London.
He served as Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly (1999–2007), Governor of Rivers State (2007–2015), and Federal Minister of Transportation (2015–2022). Following the ADC's 2026 presidential primary, in which he finished as runner-up to Atiku Abubakar, the party named him as Atiku's running mate for the 2027 presidential election.
